Urk harbor
The harbor where the NAUPAR ships moor is the central point on Urk from where the old center can be found. This port used to serve as a workshop for fishing when Urk was still an island. Urk has three ports: the Westhaven, Oosthaven and the Nieuwe haven. These are close to each other and all have the necessary facilities.
About the harbor on Urk
The striking fishing village of Urk is a former southern sea island that was connected to the mainland in 1939. The residents still have the island feeling and therefore say that they live 'on Urk'. Fishing has always been the main source of income and the old center has been built around the harbor. Around the harbor, the fish auction and the shipyards there is always a pleasant activity. If you walk out of the harbor, you are immediately between the 'ginkies'; the cozy streets and alleys with their typical Urker houses. Also the nice shopping streets with their special shops, the beach, the lighthouse and the Ommelebommelestien you will find within walking distance.
