The cast iron lighthouse at Hollum is called Bornrif. The tower was built in 1880 on the order of King Willem III. At 55 metres high, the lighthouse is an impressive structure on the island. And it still works! The only difference is that the lighthouse guard no longer has lookout duty at the top of the tower (this is now done by cameras). He does receive visitors and tells stories about the history of the coast guard.
