An 18th century mansion houses an exhibition on the history of Harlingen. The museum was established in 1957 by Leendert Jacobus Hannema. A great many paintings, model ships, the whaling trade and the works of Simon Vestdijk are on display here. Taking the audio tour (available in Dutch, German and English) makes you feel as though you are walking through the history of Harlingen.
