The Grote or Sint Nicolaaskerk is an extremely distinctive and striking point in the landscape of Waterland. It can be seen from every direction for many miles. A great many churches are located at the heart of a town or village, but this large and extremely lopsided church is at the edge. These days, the Grote Kerk also frequently houses exhibitions.
